If you haven’t tried it already, pairing some chocolate with coffee in desserts is a great way to end a meal. The taste of coffee perfectly complements the cocoa in chocolate by neutering its bitterness and enhancing its deep-seated flavors. As such, many recipes for chocolate-based foods include some coffee in them to help the fruity and spicy notes to shine through. These recipes are all incredibly easy to make, and in this article, we’ll discuss five of the most refreshing coffee and chocolate desserts you can make at home. Make coffee and a batch of these for your guests and let the compliments gush in.

1) Cappucino Popsicles

What you’ll need:

  1. 1 cup of water
  2. 2/3 cup sugar
  3. 2 tbsp of corn syrup
  4. 1 cup milk
  5. 1 tsp cinnamon
  6. 2 tbsp espresso powder
  7. A cup of vanilla almond milk.

To make these popsicles:

  1. Make some sugar corn syrup by
boiling the water and sugar together until the latter dissolves completely.
  2. After letting the solution cool
for a few minutes, add the corn syrup
  3. Take 3/4th of this mixture and
add the espresso powder to it — mix and cool.
  4. In the remaining 1/4th syrup,
pour the almond milk and cinnamon.
  5. Whisk the mixture to make sure
    the ingredients mix appropriately.
  6. Use popsicle molds and fill
each slot with half of both mixtures and freeze for at least 6 hours.

2) Affogatos

This is by far the most straightforward
recipe on this list.

It requires only two ingredients:

  1. Vanilla ice cream
  2. Espresso

To make these coffee and chocolate desserts :

  1. You just pour the espresso over
    ice cream, and you’re done!
  2. Sprinkle some breadcrumbs,
biscotti, or crushed nuts at the end to top it off.

Despite the simple recipe, there is plenty of room for experimentation here. You can mix the espresso with some hazelnut liqueur or amaretto, and pour the mixture on ice cream, or use whipped cream to garnish the affogato along with some nuts.
